What is MyRateReport?

MyRateReport is an independent electricity monitoring service for Texas residents. For $6/month (or $60/year), we watch every available plan in your area every day, calculated against your actual usage data, and alert you when it’s time to switch — including mid-contract opportunities where the savings justify your cancellation fee.

Why We Built This

Texas has a deregulated electricity market with hundreds of plans to choose from. That sounds great in theory, but in practice, providers engineer their pricing to look cheap at the exact usage levels shown on comparison sites. The advertised 9¢/kWh rate often becomes 14¢ or more once you factor in base charges, delivery fees, usage tiers, and seasonal patterns.

Worse, most Texans pick a plan once and forget about it — rolling onto expensive holdover rates when their contract expires, or missing mid-contract savings because nobody told them the market moved. We built MyRateReport to solve both problems: find the right plan using your real data, then watch the market so you never overpay again.

This isn’t a one-time analysis you buy and forget. Your subscription includes continuous daily monitoring of every plan in your area against your actual usage. When rates shift, new plans launch, or your contract approaches expiry — you know first.

Our contract renewal notification sequence is a key differentiator: starting 13 days before your contract ends, we send persistent reminders with our top recommendation and full rationale. If you don’t switch and roll onto a holdover rate, we keep reminding you daily until you act. We never let you overpay by accident.
